Sun Salutation A: A Progressive Yoga Warm-Up (Video)

As implied by the name, Sun Salutations are fantastic for waking up and meeting ourselves with fresh open-mindedness, just as if greeting a new day. They build heat to get us moving and also help us connect with how we feel in the moment. So what happens when we feel really tight, sore or tired? We could push though it, but I believe a progressive approach is better.

What I mean by progressive is: start out a little more gently and build to more depth and intensity. I could also say that it’s beginning your yoga practice with slight modifications in the postures and moving to the classic alignment over the course of three rounds of Surya Namaskar A.
