Ten years ago, when I had a ruptured disc in my neck and my mother was sick with cancer, I would never, in a million years, believe I would write instructional yoga books.
Doctors told me I should be begging for surgery. Instead, I opted to use yoga, meditation, acupuncture and hard work to heal myself.
At the outset, I was overwhelmed and scared. But I started the journey and took it one slow step at a time. Over nine months I unlearned old, unhealthy habits. I cried a lot. I discovered new ways to use my shoulders and neck. I got out of pain.
Everyone wants to be happy. No one needs to be in pain. And we all deserve to live our dreams.
I knew if I could get out of pain, heal myself and live a happier life, other people could too.
That was the motivation to start writing and share what I learned with the world. Just like my own healing, creating the Healthy Shoulders book took time and involved a lot of learning.
I built a website, started a blog (another way to share that freedom is accessible to all) and am constantly practicing to be a better writer. My husband, Aaron, has been my photographer.
We’ve amassed a growing collection of images of me doing yoga in nature and in the studio. We built the studio in our house with cardboard and tin foil. (I’m not kidding!)
And now my books are live! (Two out now, with a third on the way…)
You being here is no accident. It means you are ready to live fully, happily and in good health. It means you’re a spiritual badass, doing the work of making the world a better place in your own unique way. It means you’re ready to live the life of your dreams.
